Warrior’s Christmas spoils

Daunting Warrior ridden by Isabella Teh wins the Gympie Turf Club Christmas Cup Handicap.

Punters flocked trackside to get their fix in a sensational day of racing down at the Gympie Turf Club to say au revoir to the 2021 season.

The five race meet saw the action kick off at 1.30pm with the Ann-Marie Warren QTIS Maiden Plate, the 850 metre saw four-year-old gelding Rasheed ahead of Royo by 1.5 lengths.

Race two Gympie 4×4 Benchmark 60 Handicap saw Montana Philpot ride Dare to Share to victory, only a nose ahead of Han Dynasty in a nail biter finish.

The Plansmart Development Solutions Class B Handicap saw a second win of the day for jockey Montana Philpot on board Frisco’s Image, winning race three ahead of Kelly Gates on Aratula.

Race four 100 Club Handicap 1030 metres saw the girls in the top, jockey Rebecca Wilson took Dolci to victory, closely followed by Isabella Teh on Dynamic Verse and Montana Philpot on Viceman in third.

The final race of the day had everyone out of their seats as Daunting Warrior ridden by Isabella Teh stole the show, followed by another solid ride from Montana Philpot with True Tally only 1.5 lengths behind in second and My Certain in third.

Punters will be excited to know racing resumes on March 5, 2022 for another exciting season of country races at the Gympie Turf Club.
