Gympie liveweight sales

Sullivan Livestock yarded 2153 cattle at their Gympie Cattle sale held Monday 20 July where the market for quality remained very firm on recent sales, while lesser types were slightly cheaper.

Cattle were drawn from Gayndah, Booubyjan, Tansey, Kilkivan, Woolooga, Maryborough, Eumundi, Conondale, Kenilworth & all local areas.

Quality Simmental x steers 20 months from Neville & Lyndall Ensbey, Kandanga sold for $3.85 ($1,712 & $1,673). Charolais x steers from P & S Johnston, Kin Kin made $3.82 ($1,695). Charolais x steers from the Ferris Family, Kin Kin sold for $3.72 to return $1,595. Droughtmaster x steers from the Wagner Family Gunalda made $3.70 ($1,557 & $1,538). Brangus steers from R & M Helmore, Kilkivan made $3.64 ($1,253). Simmental x weaner steers from WG & SE Blakeney, Coondoo made $3.92 ($1,008). Charbray steers from L & C Gear, Wolooga made $3.96 ($1,342 & $1,018). Droughtmaster steers from D & P Wippell, Mooloo made $3.90. ($1,011 & $955). Fitzgerald & Co, Kilkivan sold for $406 ($932). John & Debbie Atherton, Miva Station sold a good line of Brahman weaner steers for $4.10 to return $942, $926, $850, $784 & $748. Peter Buntine, Calico Creek sold Brahman x steers for $4.08 ($736). Droughtmaster x steers from L A Messer made $4.30 ($846). Mourlin Court Pastoral, Wonga sold Charolais x steers for $4.20 ($934). Generally the next run of weaner steers sold from $3.50 to $3.82.

Charbray heifers 20 months from Les Gear, Woolooga sold from $3.50 ($1,428). Droughtmaster heifers from B & F Hartnell, Mooloo sold for $3.32 ($1,234 & $1,170). Astenridge Pty Ltd, Woolooga made $3.30 ($980). Charolais x heifers from R & A Bambling Sexton made $3.46 ($988). Charolais x heifers from M Mahon, Langshaw made $3.60 ($868). The Wagner Family sold Droughtmaster x Charbray weaner heifers for $3.54 ($824 & $806 & $784).Vealer heifers to processors generally sold from $3.40 to $3.61. Light Conditioned Plainer types of heifers sold from $3.00 to $3.38.

Cows & Calves topped at $1,600 for Droughtmaster x Cows & Calves from Oakwood Station, Kilkivan. Better quality Cows & Calves sold from $1,200 to $1,500.
