Trike to bike the rail trail

The Mary Valley Rail Trail Association (MVRTA) will soon be seen riding around the trails sporting a brand new electric cargo trike.

The MVRTA were awarded $10,000 through the Gambling Community Benefit fund for the purchase of the trike and will be using the trike to assist our volunteers during the groups regular tree planting and tree maintenance sessions on the Mary Valley Rail Trail.

The trike will assist the group to allow easy transport of equipment for their volunteers to and from the volunteer rendezvous point to the current area of work.

The new piece of equipment aims to help to make the working environment safer and more efficient for the Mary Valley Rail Trail Association volunteers.

In addition to this, the electric cargo trike will also reduce the need for heavy vehicles to transport equipment on the trail which will in turn make the trail safer and more user friendly for the walkers and cyclists who are out and about at the time.

Anyone who is interested in the Mary Valley Rail Trail can check out their website maryvalleyrailtrail.org.au or follow the Mary Valley Rail Trail Association on facebook.

The Mary Valley Rail Trail is currently a shared use recreational trail for between Brooloo and Imbil.

Loved by locals and visitors alike, the trail is free to use any time of the year and is open for use by walkers, cyclists, wheelchair users and horse-riders.

Dogs on leash are welcome.
