I saw somewhere that next year it will be pronounced “20-20 two”, and while that may be cause for pause, let’s look at it as a way to do over 2020 even better.
And to do that, we need to see the New Year in with a bang.
Here’s a couple of ways you can celebrate.
Curra Country Club
See the New Year in with Curraoke, Curra’s very own version of karaoke with Karen Thomsen from 6pm.
The Goomeri Foodworks NYE Rodeo is a full day of rodeo excitement, followed by a full evening of live music.
The rodeo starts bucking at 8am with heats and action right up until 9pm, when the band, Real Bad Habits, takes over to have the grounds rocking and rolling.
There will be food stalls and a licensed bar and camping is available by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Entry is Adult $20, 12-17 years $15 and under 12s are free. There are also family bulk packages and pensioner card discounts.
There will be two celebrations at the RSL with a Rock Through the Ages rockin’ party featuring local legends, Sneeky Pete playing all your favourite hits from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s from 7.30pm in Rhythm Bar & Lounge downstairs.
Then, upstairs get ready for a Luau DJ Party.
Don your best party shirt and grab a feed in Atrium before having a boogie to party hits spun by DJ Damien.
Mount Pleasant Hotel
New Year’s Eve celebrations will start at 5pm at the Mount with perennial favourite, Cliff Top.
Then at 9pm Cale and Deano will take to the stage to rock in the New Year until 1am.
Party out with some ‘Bangers’ at the Queenslander Hotel from 9pm til late.
Gympie Regional Council want you to celebrate New Year’s Eve with your family and friends at Rainbow Beach with an epic fireworks display on the beach in front of the Rainbow Beach Surf Club.
The fireworks start at the family-friendly time of 9pm.
Rainbow Beach Hotel
Popular duo Cool-Lula are doing their stuff NYE. It’s always a great night. See the pub’s Facebook page for more details.
Skate Land Gympie
It’s a roller disco and skate party from 6-9pm with DJ PK. There’ll be disco music and lighting and plenty of fun for all.
Entry is just $17 and $5 if you need to hire skates.
It’s a Beach themed party at the historic Theebine Hotel.
Tuck into a barbecue dinner and then settle in for great night with live music from Scott Astill.
There will also be prizes for the best dressed.
All the action starts at 6pm.
