Generous donations from local Lions

The Lions Club of Gympie Op Shop, located at 81 Mary Street Gympie, is a major source of fundraising for the Club and a major proportion of the money raised is put back into the local community by way of donations and grants.

Gympie Lions Member and Op Shop Coordinator, Donna Ross, said that it is important that the Op Shop customers could see where there money is going and to know that they are helping many worth while local causes.

At the Lions Community Morning Tea last Thursday, presentations were made to Gympie Meals on Wheels for $1000 and to the Gympie Volunteer First Aid Services for $2000.

Representatives from both organisations were on hand to receive the donations and passed on their sincere thanks to the Club for the donations.

Lions President, Glenn Williams, said that the Club had been a proud supporter of both for many years and praised their good work.

Mr Williams said that the Club expected to make more donations to local groups at the next Community Morning Tea to be held at the Gympie Senior Citizens Centre on Thursday 13 April and in the meantime encouraged people to drop in to the Op Shop for a browse.

Anyone interested in serving their community as Lions Members or wanting more information about the Morning Tea can contact Gympie Lions by email on gympielions@gmail.com or by phoning 0427276933.
