QCWA knit up storm for tree night

The Gympie branch of the QCWA took the opportunity at Winter Trees on Mary to show off their knitted handicrafts and raise some money for the association at the same time.

Wednesday 21 July, the Gympie Branch of QCWA, held their Annual General Meeting, with Mrs Michele Perrett as the Guest Chairman.

It was lovely to see the representation of women from other Branches attending the AGM.

Guest Speaker for the day was Sally Caraket from Gympie Medical Transport.

After the AGM was closed, a Morning Tea/Luncheon was partaken in.

A beautifully spread was laid before the assembly of savoury, sweet and a platter of fruit to finish off with.

No one was going to leave feeling hungry.

Thank you to all the wonderful Gympie Ladies for the work you put into making the day run smoothly, setting up the room, preparing the food and of course the cleaning up at the end of the morning.

Not only did the Gympie Branch of QCWA have their AGM on Wednesday 21 July, but they also had to decorate their tree outside of Mia Bella, for ‘Winter Trees on Mary’.

So, at 2pm the mighty workers showed up and decorated their tree and set up a stall with beanies, knee rugs and scarves available for a gold coin donation.

For sale on another stall table were covered coat hangers, and covered journals.

Not forgetting the younger set, as a lot of lucky young readers were given a free bookmark.

Although it was very cold and the ladies were all rugged up, they stayed cheerful and greeted all with a warm smile.
