Heaps of bargains are promised to New Year shoppers at the 2026 reopening of the Lions Club of Gympie Op Shop this month.
Club publicity officer Glenn Williams said the Op Shop at 81 Mary Street Gympie would reopen on Monday 12 January, with some great specials, including all dresses being priced at $5 each.
Mr Williams said the Op Shop had received great community support over the years and had been a significant contributor to the club’s overall fundraising efforts.
On Saturday 31 January the Club will be hosting a Cent Auction at the Indoor Bowls Centre at 35 Graham Street., Gympie, from 11am, with lots of items on offer and a $3 sausage sizzle lunch. Bookings are open now by contacting Karyn on 0427735896 or email to gympielionstreasurer@gmail.com.
A spokesperson for the Club said that all monies raised from these sources would be directed to charitable causes supported by the Lions organisation, with no monies going to paid employees or to volunteers, who would be giving their time freely as a service to the community.
The Lions Community Morning Teas, held at the Gympie Senior Citizens Centre, will recommence at 10:00am on Thursday 12 February with everyone welcome.
Entry fees are unchanged at $5 a head, including tea, coffee and food.
Anyone interested in serving their community as Lions Members or wanting more information about the Morning Tea or Lions activities can contact Gympie Lions by email on gympielions@gmail.com or by phoning 0427276933, Mr Williams said.
