Archers try and let it fly

Soon to be archers came together to enjoy a ’come and try’ day to archery at the Glastonbury Recreation Grounds on Saturday, 20 January.

The event that ran from 3pm to 5pm saw over 90 people of all ages braved the heat to learn the basics of Archery from Glastonbury Hall and Recreation Youth Ambassador, Connor Bruce and his parents Tom and Lorraine.

Connor has been involved with Archery since he was six years of age and won North Qld and Qld State Titles all before he was 10 years old.

Tom, Lorraine and Connor shared that many members showed natural talent their beloved sport and look forward to building their skills at future events.

“We were thrilled with the response and loved sharing our passion of Archery with our local community,“ said Mr Bruce.

A ’fast lane’ approach will be introduced on future sessions to speed up the coaching process.

The Glastonbury Hall and Recreation Association Community thanked everyone who attended to support the first introduction to Archery session and thanked Tom, Lorraine and Connor for sharing their expertise & experience for all to enjoy.

The next session date is to be announced shortly as the group need to coordinate amid the tennis court construction works.

‘Come & Try Archery at Glastonbury’ is a ‘Glastonbury Connect’ Initiative of the Glastonbury Hall and Recreation Association and is supported by the Gympie Regional Council Recovery, Wellbeing and Resilience Grant.

There to spot the next robin hood was Gympie Todays’ Shane Zahner.
