Many Gympie residents will find themselves seeking medical services outside of Gympie and for those that need it, it may be nice to know you are in award winning hands.
Gunyah of Wellness was the recipient the PenCS ‘Closing the Gap’ Award, with the award win to acknowledge the clinic’s success in delivering quality healthcare, removing barriers for First Nations community members, and providing career opportunities.
This Aboriginal Medical Service, part of REFOCUS Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cooperation, which also has an office in Gympie, maintains a holistic approach and innovative programs, exceling in COVID-19 response, delivering over 1,500 Health Assessments and pioneering community well-being initiatives.
Ruth Murray’s leadership shows her dedication to ‘Closing the Gap’ in healthcare disparities.
“It’s an honour to be recognised in this area that we are so passionate about.” said Ms Murray.
“When you work with vulnerable populations, many of whom have complex health and social challenges, this obviously presents even more of a challenge.
“PenCS data allows us to have systems in place that trigger us to invite mob in for the right appointment at the right time so we can provide the preventative or follow up care that our patients need.”
The PenCS Awards provide an opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and achievements of primary health care in Australia, with acknowledgement to Primary Health Networks and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.
PenCS is a provider of health informatics software applications that support QI.
