We want to thank all our members and visitors, firstly for turning up and getting much needed exercise and once again enjoying the social aspect as well as the competitive side to our sport. Secondly for contributing to the safe environment by observing the covid rules and making our jobs easier to negotiate the restrictions put upon us at the moment. Let us hope the coming couple of weeks do not set us back to further restrictions. On a happier note we enjoyed good turnouts on all our bowling days with some very good Championship games.
Tuesday 27th July Nominated Jackpot Pairs
Almost a full green saw some very good bowling across the board. It seems the rest everyone had over the last few months has improved their bowling.
The winners of the second round were Bron Sniegowski and Steve Garbutt who narrowly missed out on the first game.
The winners on the day were Rene Visser and Ross Ashley with some consistent bowling.
Thursday 29th July Mixed Social Bowls
Numbers well up again on a windy but beautiful day. The wind played a part with some results, or that is what some were saying but overall everyone had a great day.The wheel decided the winners with the lowest winning margin being the decider.
The winners were Graham Nunn, Adele Allars and Graham Nunn but all games were close.
Saturday 1st August Burger Chips and Beer followed by Scroungers.
Unfortunately the numbers were down on scroungers today as we also ran some Championship games. However it gave our novice bowlers some more experience and practise.
The championships were continued today following on from before the lockdown in March. These proved to be very competitive as everyone bowled well.
The Men’s Singles 2nd Round game was between Steve Garbutt and Dave Livick with Dave finishing the winner. A close and long game. Dave now moves on to the semi-finals.
The Ladies Singles 1st Round games were so even that both games were 24 all with the last end being the decider.
Jill Falzon beat Sue Ramsay and Sue Long beat Adele Allars.
Congratulations not only the winners but to all that played.
Sunday 2nd August Mixed Social Bowls
Another good turnout with glorious weather for bowling.
The wheel again decided the winner today which was the highest winning score. So close was all the bowling today that we had a draw and it needed three countbacks to decide the winners which were Adele Allars and John Lomax.
The Championship Games today Made up a full green.
We had the final of the Men’s Pairs played after a lengthy break as this game was to be played the day after we went on lockdown in March. It was worth the wait as it was a close game with Gary Holyoak and Dave Livick running out winners against Bron Sniegowsky and Steve Garbutt.
The ladies continued their 1st round Singles games.
Once again the game went to the wire.
The game was between Ruth Steinscherer and Di Currell. The eventual winner was Ruth.
Congratulations to all that competed this week with the winners continuing next week.
What a busy but rewarding week we had. The Club is enjoying the return to bowling and everyone seems eager to carry on. We also want to thank the visitors, who have been playing with us. It is nice to see some familiar faces who have returned to enjoy our area.
We look forward to our Three Day Winter Carnival in August which is almost full so if you wish to put a team together please contact the Club.
Happy bowling everyone.
