Market holds strong

Sullivan Livestock yarded 2299 quality cattle at our Gympie Cattle Sale, where the market remained very strong for all descriptions.

Cattle were drawn from Eidsvold, Murgon, Booubyjan, Cinnabar, Beaver Rock, Boonara, Biggenden, Kenilworth and all local areas.

Droughtmaster cross feeder steers from JMH Investments, Imbil, sold for $4.88/kg to return $2,378, $2,372 and $2,217.

Simmental cross light feeders from Murgon made $5.00/kg and $5.38/kg to return $2,011 and $1,776.

A very good run of Charbray steers G and H Young, Eidsvold sold for $6.12/kg to return $1,820 and $1,556.

Quality Brangus and Charbray steers from Cinnabar sold to $6.00/kg to return $1,465, $1,338 for the Charbray’s and $1,443 for the Brangus.

Feeder heifers from Imbil sold for $4.68/kg to return $1,727, $1,807, $1,617, $1,622.

Charbray feeder heifers from Beaver Rock made $4.64/kg to return $1,845, $1,959 and $1,983.

Charbray weaner heifers from Cinnabar sold for $4.42/kg and returned $1,002.

Quality Charbray heifers from Eidsvold made $4.54/kg or $1,221.

Bulls made to $3.99/kg, averaging $3.86/kg.

Cows made to a top of $3.98/kg to average $3.74/kg.

A good run of young kill steers made to $4.70/kg, averaging $4.46.

Two very good Brangus yearling bulls account K Dakin, made $2,500 each.

With very few to quote, Cows and Calves made a top of $1,950 with most averaging around $1,600.
