Cattle prices up

Sullivan Livestock yarded 1018 cattle at their regular fortnightly Gympie Cattle Sale held Monday, 27 November where the market was dearer for all descriptions.

Cattle were drawn from Booubyjan, Tansey, Kilkivan, Brooweena, Woolooga, Maryborough, Tiaro and all local areas.

Angus x steers from Scotchy Pocket made $2.98 to return ($1131).

Light Brahman x steers from Tiaro made $2.86 ($1096) and $3.04 ($1000).

Droughtmaster steers from Curra made $3.32/kg, 295kg, ($981).

Charolais x weaner steers from Kilkivan made $3.52 to return $822.

Simmental x weaner steers from Widgee made $3.66 ($913).

Charolais x steers from Imbil made $3.32 ($946 and $863).

Light Droughtmaster weaner steers from Wonga sold for $3.78 ($605).

Weaner steers sold from $3.30 to $3.90 for flatbacks with Brahman x steers selling from $2.20 to $2.78.

Droughtmaster feeder heifers from Gunalda made $2.66 ($921).

Droughtmaster x heifers from Kia Ora made $2.64 to return $941.

Droughtmaster x heifers from Booubyjan made $2.74 ($856) and $2.70 ($854) and $2.66 ($816).

Droughtmaster x heifers from Lagoon Pocket topped at $3.04 ($834) and their Brangus x sisters made $2.94 ($798).

Brangus x heifers from Warrawee sold to a top of $2.80 ($884, $690 and $658).

Droughtmaster weaner heifers from Gunalda made $2.82 ($610).

Charolais x weaner heifers from Kilkivan made $2.92 ($658).

Light Charolais x weaner heifers from Running Creek made $3.00 to return $706 and $612.

Generally better quality weaner heifers going back to the paddock sold from $2.40 to $3.02.

Cows and calves from Mooloo sold to a top of $1250 with other pens selling for $1160, $1150, $1150 and $1100.

Next Sale and last for 2023 will be Monday, 11 December.
