Kidd Bridge reopened

Kidd Bridge has now reopened.

Gympie Regional Council reminds residents to drive slowly and to the conditions.

Although it has stopped raining and river levels are receding, they have seen a number of impacts on roads and low-lying bridges across the region, including Gympie, the Mary Valley, Cooloola Coast, and particularly in the western part of the region.

Council and SES crews are continuing to work hard to respond as quickly as possible.

They ask the community to be patient as crews commence a massive recovery effort to inspect, repair, and reopen roads across the region.

This will take time, and we are working around the clock to help the community get back to normal as quickly as possible.

For primary producers, if you have been impacted by this event, please complete the Queensland Government’s Disaster Impact Survey.

The survey helps assess how disasters have affected your property and whether disaster recovery assistance may be required.

To complete the survey, visit www.business.qld.gov.au/industries/farms-fishing-forestry/agriculture/disaster/impact-survey

If you are doing it tough, check out the Gympie Region Community Services Directory for a range of counselling, wellbeing and support services and resources at www.gympie.qld.gov.au/Community/Major-Projects/Building-a-Resilient-Region/Gympie-Region-Community-Services-Directory

If you or people you know are physically isolated and need assistance, please contact council@gympie.qld.gov.au or call 1300 307 800, and 000 in emergencies.

As for council services, all waste transfer stations are open, and all council aquatic facilities are now open during normal trading hours.

Please leave your bins out on scheduled days.

If your bin is not collected on your scheduled service day, please leave it out until collected if it is safe to do so.

Saturated ground may also cause trees or vegetation to fall.

Please report fallen trees or road damage to Council on 1300 307 800.

While the weather has eased, it’s always a good time to think about your own disaster plans.
