Congratulations to Gympie’s first Junior Matilda— Aleisha Manthey.
What a great achievement for a Gympie girl!
You don’t attract the attention of national sports selectors unless you have outstanding talent.
And, in Aleisha’s case, that talent is backed by a fierce commitment and a hunger to succeed.
Behind her is the commitment of her parents, who have encouraged her aspirations and no doubt spent many hours driving her to matches, training camps and airports to give her every chance to realise her dreams.
But Aleisha’s personal drive is obvious, too.
She is aiming for the top— a place in the Matildas’ green and gold at the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.
If she achieves that goal, it will be more than a personal triumph.
It would be a great honour for Gympie— something of which we could all be proud.
I’m sure she has all of us cheering her on her way.
Go for it, Aleisha…I mean junior Matilda.
