Friends not food

Gabriel Laidler-Burns

There seems to be a theme this week as dangerous animals lurk around the region.

Crocodiles, sharks, or dangerous dogs leaving many scared to go out to the beaches or for a walk.

Authorities have said they will find these critters and have them removed from the area.

But why?

I understand our habitat might not be the best for a croc, nor is it safe to have sharks and dangerous dogs in our public areas.

But shouldn’t the wildlife have access to these areas themselves?

The overarching theme I see in response to any ‘dangerous’ animal near people is the urgent need to remove them, but I believe these spaces belong to them too.

Treat it like a spider, leave it be or relocate it easily, all it takes is a newspaper and a cup.

I don’t even mind if you use ours.
