Rain

In the last few days we have received over seven (7) inches of rain.

If this keeps up we could experience another 2022 flood.

It would be interesting to be informed about what the Gympie Shire Council (GSC) has done in the last two (2) years with regard to flood mitigation.

I realise a lot of work that is done in this regard to waterways is the responsibility of the State Government.

However, it is the responsibility of the GSC to keep the pressure on the Government to ensure any work in this regard does not cease.

The commercial businesses within the town centre are due this effort.

There are enough empty shops in the main street now as private enterprise cannot afford flood after flood.

If the GSC is looking for a worthwhile project maybe they could focus on something like this or maybe even some of the road network in the Shire, not to mention some of the main traffic thoroughfares feeding in from some of the estates.

How many years have passed since the GSC, other than contractors, properly constructed a new road?

Not just a top dressing.

Has anyone completed a cost value analysis of sound new road construction, against the constant repairs of potholes over the same piece of roadway.
