Well council, you have finally done it.
To propose a dog park on the foreshore defies belief!
Who are these nutters who voted in favour of this rubbish?
Shame on you all!
(The foreshore) is a pristine area directly abutting the World Heritage Great Sandy Straits, an area of international significance, listed and protected under the Ramsar
Convention – wetland areas that under international law should be protected from any and all degradation.
Further, the significance of the Tin Can Bay foreshore as a tourist attraction with its amazing flora, and incredible bird life, is without doubt, unique in Queensland, if not the world and should not be impacted by such an ill-considered proposal.
Alternatives exist (as already advised by Gympie Regional Council) that actually make sense (ie behind the Tin Can Bay shopping centre- central, accessible, unobtrusive…)
We at Friends of The Foreshore (under the auspices of Coast Care) have laboured for many years to enhance the foreshore for the benefit of the community here in Tin Can Bay and Cooloola Coast and of course visitors to our region and to have this degrading proposal from the GRC is totally unacceptable.
