Money’s too tight to mention

Honestly, I was shocked when I read Tony Jakeman’s letter to us regarding the My Aged Care system and how he was able to save one person currently on the scheme close to $12,000 a year.

That works out to be almost $250 a week worth of funding this client could have been using for mobility aids and services to help him stay in his own home for longer.

My mum’s on My Aged Care and they are a Godsend – helping her to maintain her independence.

But that care costs a great deal, which, thankfully, the Government is able to provide for her, meaning she doesn’t have to find the money for oxygen tanks and concentrators and equipment hire, etc from her own pocket.

And with the 9.3 per cent increase in rates just announced by the council, it’s a good thing she doesn’t have to find that money!
