I was going to do a fluffy bunny message wishing all the readers of Gympie Today a happy and safe Easter.

I do wish that, but there is something more important to say.

I remember last week the Premier was making quick promises about putting in place rental caps.

But almost immediately after, the Deputy Premier was prefacing it, saying ‘we need to ensure investors get a good return on their investment’ or words to that affect.

I couldn’t believe my ears.

Figures released this week from the Australian Council of Social Services have said that 93 per cent of renters receiving benefits (pensions, VA, disability, unemployment, student allowances, more) are in rental stress.

Why are protecting investments more important than ensuring people have a roof over their head and food on the table?

And that’s your problem, right there.

Their priorities are all wrong.

Happy Easter.
