Coffee House needs your help

Wishlist Coffee House at Gympie Hospital is urgently seeking volunteers to join the fun and friendly team.

From dedicating a day a week or fortnight, Wishlist Volunteer Coordinator Jill Nicholson said extra hands were needed to help with customer service, making delicious food and serving coffee.

“You don’t need any experience in food services or hospitality, just a willingness to help and have a bit of fun,” Ms Nicholson said.

Thanks to the hard work of local volunteers, Wishlist Coffee House has raised more than $505,000 for Gympie Hospital since opening eight years ago.

“But now we need your help! Our café is busier than ever and we need a few extra bodies to help us out.”

Wishlist Coffee House opened its doors in 2013, and quickly became a social hub and convenient coffee stop for anyone using Gympie Hospital.

Already this year, funds raised through the Coffee House have allowed Wishlist to enhance the Gympie Hospital service through funding;

• $3,350 worth of aesthetic improvements to the Gympie Hospital mortuary to create a caring and calming environment to assist grieving families.

• A $9,350 AccuVein (medical equipment) for the Children’s Ward.

• $3,000 worth of reading resources to improve language and cognitive skills in children.

Run by French pastry chef Jacques Martin and a team of hard-working volunteers, Wishlist Coffee House provides fresh, healthy food and drinks for staff, patients and visitors of the Gympie Hospital.

100 percent of the café’s proceeds go towards the needs of Gympie Hospital or projects to benefit Gympie patients and families.

“Our volunteers feel proud to be able to give back to our local hospital,” Mr Martin said.

“It’s also a great way to meet new people, make new friends, gain new skills and utilise past experience.”
