GourMay heating up

Gympie Regional Council is thrilled to support the Mary Valley Chamber of Commerce Inc. to deliver GourMay Mary Valley through the Community Grants Program.

GourMay is a month-long food festival celebrating the growers, producers, and culinary creators of the Mary Valley.

Throughout May, GourMay Mary Valley will feature a series of satellite events where visitors and locals alike can immerse themselves in a variety of experiences, including farm tours and open days, breakfasts, lunches, dinners, workshops, art exhibitions, film screenings, live performances, walking tours, and much more.

Mark your calendar for GourMay’s Festival Day, which will take place at the Imbil Town Square and Rail Park on Saturday, 25 May, from 8.30 am to 3 pm. Festival Day features food stalls, cooking demonstrations, farming presentations, and the annual GourMay cooking challenge, where four local chefs will go head-to-head to see who will be crowned GourMay Mary Valley Cook of the Year.

“The Mary Valley has always been known locally for its natural beauty and high-quality produce,” said Gympie Regional Council Mayor Hartwig.

Through GourMay Mary Valley, visitors to the region will get to experience this amazing part of the world firsthand.”

GourMay Mary Valley Co-ordinator Malcolm Oakley is excited to showcase the Mary Valley’s vibrant food scene and community spirit to residents and visitors to the region.

“GourMay Mary Valley is a celebration of our local growers, producers, and chefs, and I wish to invite everyone to come and experience the unique flavours and warm hospitality of the Mary Valley,” said Oakley.

GourMay Mary Valley is proudly sponsored by Gympie Regional Council’s Community Grants Program.
