Lions youth of the year announced

Over sixty people attended the Lions Club of Gympie Club Youth of the Year Judging on 27 February, with six contestants from four local schools taking part.

James Nash SHS was represented by Molly Devereaux, Gympie SHS was represented by Jorja McIntyre and Mark Curley, St Patrick’s College was represented by Jasmin White and Madison Ostwald, and Victory College was represented by Georgia Douglas.

Judges for the event were Shirley Edward, Graeme Stanley and Mathew Fea who collectively praised the high standard of contestants.

They were faced with the difficult task of selecting a winner to go on to the Regional finals to be held later in March.

St Patrick’s College student, Jasmin White, was ultimately selected as the winner and will now represent the club at the Regional final and beyond.

There are a total of four levels in the preliminary judging including Club, Regional, District and State finals before reaching the National final which will be held in Darwin on 27 May 2024.

At a Club level, the YOTY program aims to enable and encourage students to take an interest in leadership and the qualities required to take an active role in the community.

The Lions Club of Gympie congratulates Jasmin White on her achievement and thanks all entrants for participating in the Lions Youth of The Year Program for 2024.

This signature Lions Youth Program could not be delivered without the wonderful support of schools and parents and their input is appreciated by the club and the Lions organisation.

The club wishes Jasmin every success as she progresses to the next and subsequent levels of the program.
