Hues of humour

April is a busy month with the Easter Bunny hopping into town, along with time to celebrate and remember our Anzacs that fought for our freedoms. Many of our members will be taking time away to enjoy the 2023 Photography Convention to be held in Rockhampton at the end of the month. This is a great time to socialize with like-minded people and enjoying photography. There will be many learning opportunities with Photographers sharing their skill through workshop presenters covering many aspects of photography.

To begin the month, our April competition was judged by Daryl Fisher, an accredited judge of the PSQ (Photographic Society of Qld). It was not an easy task but handled well by Daryl, as the Special subject was “Humour”. This subject was not an easy one and can be seen so differently by us all. The open section for the month was Monochrome, always a favourite for most members.

Every month members full club entry of images can be seen on the Gympie Camera Club Facebook page, so worth taking a look at the collection of great images.

This being a busy month Gympie Camera Club is combining their practical meeting with the outing day into one, and enjoying a fun day with animals at the clubhouse on Sunday 16 April. It will have lots of photography opportunities and fun with the animals large and small, with a sausage sizzle lunch to follow.

The May competition night has had a change of date and will be held on the Tuesday 9 May, a week later due to the holding of the Photography Convention 2023 in Rockhampton.

Come join us in the fun of learning photography. Find us at 39 Saleyard Road (behind the woodworkers club). Our meetings are the first Tuesday and third Monday of the Month, meetings start 7.00pm SHARP. We would love to see you there.

We are there to share the love of Photography and make friendships. Our club is a group of people learning and discovering new things in photography, happy to share knowledge with you.

Interesting Photography Facts:

One of the most dangerous photography facts is about flashes. Photographers mixed potassium chloride and aluminum. This mixture would create a bright light when introduced to a spark. These connections often led to violent explosions if they were not properly mixed. If you have a speedlite, you have it easy.
