2023 is set to be an amazing year for Scouting in Gympie, with lots of fun activities and events on the calendar. They’ll begin the year with a Sausage Sizzle fundraiser at Bunnings on Saturday 28 January, including a display of exciting things our young people have done recently.
Scouting provides opportunities for young people, aged 6-25 with programs and activities to encourage personal growth through new and exciting challenges, experiences and outdoor adventures.
Today’s Scouts do so much more than tie knots and erect tents, although these skills are still important as they learn to be self-sufficient campers responsible for looking after themselves, their campsite and the environment.
They’ve participated in Abseiling, Archery, Bike Hikes, Beach Camps, Bush walks, Billycarts, Canoeing, Indoor Rock Climbing, Hiking Competitions, Rope courses, Scientific experiments, Carpentry, Cooking, Construction and Craftwork. They assist on ANZAC Day, Clean Up Australia day, Landcare planting activities and other Gympie Events
Adults can become leaders and join in the fun and adventures, gaining nationally recognised qualifications in Leadership and Outdoor Recreation.
A highlight for Centenary Gympie Scouts was winning the annual Kiwi Woggle Camping Competition at the Gympie Showgrounds last Easter. An Air Activities Day, which included a flight in a helicopter or small plane, was one of the most popular outings for leaders and young people.
Visit us at Bunnings and find out why scouting is still popular and what your children could accomplish and learn through Scouting.
