Generosity quota filled

The Gympie Quota club is a non-profit women’s service organisation who have volunteered their time and personal expertise to support the local community for 61 years. The club was installed on 18 March 1961, by the then Governor of the 30th district, Norma Cullen from Redcliffe, whose Gympie’s charter members have laid the foundation for the strength of the club to this day.

Now a club of 20 ladies, their many achievements in 2022 have raised funds and serviced the needs of our community.

Raising funds through movie premieres, Mother’s/Father’s Day and Christmas raffles with the annual Muster street stall in Mary Street, were very popular for delicious homemade cakes and slices.

The club saw that funds were given to the needy during the devastating Gympie floods along with many of the emergency service organisations and to a local school and students after severe flood damage.

Statistics say that loneliness can play a major part in the lives of one in four women and so part of the club’s service to the community involves a free Chit/Chat coffee morning tea. This initiative gives ladies an opportunity to break the cycle and meet some new friends in a very friendly environment at the easily accessible Museum Café.

The club also supports the delivery of Meals on Wheels, and home visits through SkillCentred.

Our 2022 Morning Tea and Fashion parade provided a substantial donation to Professor Ian Frazer’s Centre for Children’s Immunotherapy Research and hosting a luncheon for Loud Shirt Day saw funds donated to the Hear & Say Centre in Brisbane. The Centre is currently celebrating 30 years of service to the hearing impaired and deaf children whose therapists give the best chance to children from birth minimizing the long term effects of hearing impairment and allowing them to reach their full potential.

The club is guided by the executive, who develop many strategies for the future by identifying service needed in the community and provide assistance and funding requirements.

The Gympie Quota club welcomes new members who wish to share the values of working towards the needs of our local community.
