Fantastic year for camera club

Another full year for the Gympie Camera Club for 2022. A busy year was enjoyed by members as we take a quick look back at some of the happenings.

Monthly competitions themed with special subjects were held throughout, this creates opportunity for members to get those cameras clicking and stretch the skills and imagination.

Club members are encouraged to enter outside photographic competitions as this is a good way to build confidence and improvement. Also, participation in competitions as a club entry is encouraged and Gympie Camera Club hold their own in these competitions against many other clubs.

Every year Gympie Camera Club hosts the Tewantin Shield Competition. This year one of our very own members took out the Champion Image of the Competition. Up to 14 other clubs are a part of the competition. Next year club is planning an all-day activities event for on the day.

Each month has a tutorial workshop night, learning ways to better the skills and getting it right in the camera, understanding what the camera can do. Help with Photoshop skills also, these being the finishing touches to a well taken and mastered image.

Outings are also arranged through each month; these can be to many of the photographic spots around our local area. This year we have had fun mornings catching some street photography in our beautiful Mary Street. It’s surprising what you can capture close to home.

The Club has completed a well purposed Awning and Storeroom extension added to our already owned Clubhouse. This is a great asset to the club to have a covered outside area space.

Gympie Camera Club group are a very hard-working happy group of photographers. They grab opportunities to do fundraising sausage sizzles through out the year where possible. This is a great support for the club and we thank Bunnings for making this possible.

Club is looking forward to another fun year in 2023. Come join us in 2023 at 39 Saleyard Rd 16 January 7.00pm.
