Last Saturday the Sunshine Coast Lightning team sent shock waves throughout Victory College, with their talent, sportsmanship and enthusiasm.

The Wide Bay region was the last leg of the Suncorp Regional tour for Sunshine Coast Lightning, hosting free netball clinics for 8-14 year old aspiring athletes.

Gympie and Districts Netball Association president Colleen Miller said it was a fantastic day and it was great to see so many talented netballers teaching future generations on how to improve their game.

“How cool was it to have three Lightning players, two of which are Australian Diamonds, visit and teach new skills to our juniors,” she said.

“These ladies are so personable and always give freely of their time – such a great hit with the players.”

The players in question, Cara Koenen, Kate Walsh and Steph Wood, showed professionalism and dedication in their teaching, and it showed with all the smiles coming from the juniors.

“We were extremely lucky and very grateful to have a national team on our doorstep,” Colleen said.
