Thinking caps on for Rally good time

A familiar fixture to Monday nights has returned with the fundraising Trivia Nights at the Gympie RSL.

Run by Michael and Bronwyn Brown, the team behind car number 42, the Sharkmobile in the Camp Quality Escarpade Rally, the Trivia Nights are the main fundraiser for the crew.

Michael has been part of the rally since 2010 in support of Camp Quality.

“Camp Quality focuses more on the psychological aspect of children with cancer, helping give the children laughter, social interaction and making sure they don’t feel alone,“ he said.

“It’s about getting the kids together, helping siblings who sometimes feel left out and family units.“

Helping children with cancer is close to the Michael’s heart after seeing his son, Cameron, battle leukaemia.

Cameron was first diagnosed in 1998 at the age of seven and relapsed in 2008.

Dealing with the initial diagnosis and subsequent relapse has given the family a direct insight into the scenario faced by numerous other families.

“We know what’s it’s all about and what families must face so I really see the value in Camp Quality,“ Michael said.

The fundraising Trivia Nights had to be put on hold in March last year due to the global pandemic, but are up and running again every Monday night from 7pm.

Entry is just $6 per person and there are some wonderful prizes to be won, donated by local businesses, such as the Gympie RSL.
