Thanks to the Gympie Regional Council for their update on our beach cleaning story from last issue.
The news is that traditionally the beach has been getting raked in the week before each school holidays so four times per year.
Apparently the operation takes a full day and requires two staff to conduct.
“Raking is done from the southern buoy line to the pedestrian beach access north of the bathing area and depending on the tide conditions this can be as large as 12,000 square metres.
“The beach was raked two days before the recent school holidays and got an extra stick and debris clean up with a posy while fixing the southern buoy line after the recent low.
“The next beach raking is scheduled for the week before Easter school holidays.
Well done to the council for ensure the region looks good for our visitors.
