If you had the good fortune to be around in 1968, you will probably remember the hit song, ‘O What a Night’, by the Four Seasons.
Well, it came to mind for me at Long Flat Hall on Saturday night.
After a brief hiatus, which seemed an eternity for some of us, social dancing resumed in the historic hall with the excellent dance floor.
As expected, an eager group of forty-plus dance-deprived participants attended in obviously upbeat spirits.
It was great to see again the shared happiness that music, movement, and social contact can bring.
As the night progressed, people seemed to look younger and happier.
Or did I just imagine that?
But there was still plenty of room on the floor.
And I encourage you, whatever your age, to come to Long Flat Hall on Saturday nights to join in the fun.
It’s the best ten dollars’ worth in Gympie!
Guaranteed.
There are good people who will gladly help to kick-start (oops! I meant restart) your lapsed dancing career, or get you going from the beginning if you have never enjoyed the pleasure that social dancing provides.
Get a few friends together to share the experience and the nervousness, if you have any, and have an uplifting night out.
See you at the Long Flat Dance on Saturday night.
You will go home singing, or at least thinking, ‘O What a Night!’
