A good quality yarding of 2218 cattle at Sullivan Livestock’s Gympie Cattle Sale held Monday, 23 March, saw the store market remain very firm, while meatworks cattle followed recent trends and eased in price.
Good quality Brangus heavy feeder steers from Wolvi topped at $5.08 to return $2342, $2337 and $2099.
Droughtmaster steers from B & L Thompson, Gundiah made $4.94 to return $2327, $2352, $2159, and $2041.
Droughtmaster steers from Miva made $4.76 ($2047), droughtmaster steers from the Anderson Family at The Palms made $5 to return $2003.
Droughtmaster steers from D McPherson, Coles Creek sold for $5.10 to return $1974.
Quality Droughtmaster steers from Ray Heilbronn, “Hidden Valley” Tansey made $5/kg to return $1829 and $1585.
There was a very good quality line-up of weaner steers, and they sold accordingly.
Alan & Jan Salmon, Widgee sold Charbray steers for $5.30 ($1815, $1734) and $5.94 ($1684).
Charbray steers from T & C O’Donoghue, Kilkivan, made $6.12 ($1613) while their Droughtmaster brothers sold for $5.72 ($1447).
Charbray steers from A White, Calgoa sold for $5.82 ($1513).
Red Angus x Brahman steers from the McEwan Family, Cooran, made $5.54 to return $1445 and $1334.
Charbray x and Droughtmaster x steers from Yalanga Station sold for $5.36 to return $1447 and $1409 and $5.50 ($1279).
Generally, better-quality weaner steers sold from $5.20 to $6.00.
The Brahman x weaner steers sold from $4.50 to $5.10 pending quality.
Feeder heifers sold to a top of $4.12, with Brangus x heifers from Mothar Mountain fetching $4.04 to return $1486 and $1,485.
Brangus x heifers from Kilkivan made $4.04 ($1554).
Santa x heifers from G & S McArthur, Kilkivan made $4.10 ($1363).
Charbray x heifers from Sandy Creek sold for $4.10 ($1361).
Angus x heifers from Goomeri made $4.22 ($1279).
Generally, better-quality weaner heifers sold from $3.95 to $4.28, with the next run making $3.40 to $3.80.
Cows and calves were very limited in supply and quality sold to a top of $1575.

A very good quality yarding of 540 females at Sullivan Livestock’s Woolooga Female Sale on Thursday, 19 March 2026, saw very strong competition throughout.
Cows and calves topped at $3450 for Droughtmaster x cows with very good Droughtmaster calves at foot from Goomeri, while three pens of their sisters sold for $2650. Grant Gericke, Mundubbera, sold Charbray cows and calves for $3000.
Droughtmaster cows and calves from Widgee sold for $3000.
Droughtmaster x cows and calves from Patterson made $2450 and $2350.
Westonvale Livestock, Glastonbury, sold very good quality Droughtmaster heifers PTIC (pregnancy tested – in calf) for $3100, $3000 and $2750.
F1 Charbray heifers PTIC from Grant Gericke made $2950 and $2650.
Droughtmaster heifers PTIC from H & H Glastonbury made $2350.
Brahman heifers PTIC from Bundaberg sold for $2200 and $2125.
Charbray heifers unjoined from A & H Perrett, Curra, sold for $1900.
Fortrus Pastoral, Bells Bridge, sold very good quality Droughtmaster weaner heifers for $1500.
Moulin Court Pastoral, Lower Wonga, sold good-quality weaner Droughtmaster heifers for $1400.
