Market holds dearer

A good quality yarding of 1187 cattle by Sullivan Livestock at its regular fortnightly Gympie Cattle Sale held Monday 10 November 2025, saw the market dearer for all descriptions.

Cattle were drawn from Maryborough, Brooweena, Booubyjan, Tansey, Kilkivan, Woolooga, Manumbar and all local areas.

In the Meatworks section Charbray bulls from Kandanga topped at $4.07 and their Meatworks Charbray steers at $4.59.

Quality Charbray cows from Mothar Mountain sold for $3.94 ($2,591).

Brangus x 4 and 6 tooth heifers from Brooweena made $4.16 to return $2,098.

Heavy Droughtmaster feeder steers from J & M Belling, Miva topped at $4.81 to return $2,009.

Brangus steers from Sexton made $4.81 ($1,914 and $1,904).

Droughtmaster x steers from B & L Gear, Cedar Pocket made $4.74 ($2,115).

Brangus steers from Sexton made $4.80 ($1,980) and $4.86 ($1,861).

Droughtmaster weaner steers from Ross Brothers, Brooweena made $5.42 ($1,595).

Greg and Kevin Birt, Gunalda sold Droughtmaster weaner steers for $5.66 ($1,512) and $6.14 ($1,381).

While their Charbray brothers made $5.64 ($1,476).

Charbray steers from the Davies Family, Kilkivan made $5.76 ($1,510 and $1,495) and $5.80 ($1,178).

Generally better-quality weaner steers sold $4.90 to $5.86.

Droughtmaster feeder heifers from Widgee made $4.26 ($1,550).

Droughtmaster heifers from Kandanga made $4.24 ($1,564).

Quality Charbray weaner heifers from the Davies Family made $4.64 ($1,320 and $1,139).

Generally weaner heifers sold from $3.50 to $4.20 pending quality.

The next Sale is on Monday 24 November.

Murgon Sale, 4/11/25

Numbers were back to 550 in Murgon on Tuesday, 4 November, mainly due to a lot of areas receiving some rainfall over the weekend.

The market was very strong throughout.

Export numbers were back to 150 and suitable feeder steers and heifers were in very short supply.

Bullocks sold to $4.46 c/kg and $3120.00.

Bulls topped at $3.88 c/kg for $3800.00.

Cows over 500kg sold to $3.76 per kilogram and $2220.00.

Cows 400 to 500kg sold to $3.70 for $1810.00.

Light Cows under 400 kg sold to $3.52 and $1400.00.

Export heifers topped at $4.28 c/kg and $2230.00.

Cattle were drawn from Gayndah, Mundubbera, Kilcoy, Durong, Byrnestown, Yarraman, Kingaroy and locally.

440 kg Charolais cross steers from Yarraman sold to $4.50 c/kg for $1980.00.

Hereford cross steers from Kilcoy sold for $1760.00 at $4.46c/kg.

295 kg Charolais steers ex Yarraman sold for $1520.00 at $5.16 c/kg.

Local Santa weaner steers sold to $5.04 c/kg and $1410.00.

A draft of 60 Santa weaner steers from Gayndah sold for $5.30 c/kg to average 205 kg and $1085.00.

Santa weaner steers sold to $5.20 c/kg for $1140.00.

Droughtmaster cross heifers from Tansey sold to $4.06 c/kg to return $1740.00.

340 kg Brangus heifers from Manyung sold for $1360.00 at $4.00 c/kg.

Droughtmaster heifers 367 kg sold for $3.78 c/kg and $1390.00.

Charolais cross heifers 300 kg from Yarraman sold for $1236.00 at $4.10c/kg.

295 kg Santa heifers from Gayndah sold for $3.90 c/kg to return $1150.00.

Two pens of Santa weaner heifers from Barambah sold for $4.30c/kg returning $1170.00 and $1095.00.

Droughtmaster cross weaner heifers from Tansey sold for $4.10 c/kg and $930.00.

Brahman cross Cows and Calves sold to $1450.00.

The next Murgon sale will be on Tuesday, 18 November at 8.00 am
