What’s on around the Gympie region this coming week

SUNDAY 28 September Gympie Butter Factory 100th Celebration Take a trip back in time to the roaring '20s and discover the history behind one of Gympie's most recognised commercial buildings, the former Wide Bay Co-Operative Dairy Butter Factory. The factory was at one stage the biggest butter factory in the Southern Hemisphere, with World War II propaganda spreader for the Japanese, Tokyo Rose, naming the site as a target of the Axis forces. This special free open day to commemorate the 100th year since it was officially opened on 25 September 1925, has been put together by Tom Grady Rural Merchandise (who now occupy the building) and will feature historic cars, free kids rides, lots of photos, tours of the complex, video interviews with past employees, ice-cream van, sausage sizzle and devonshire teas and more. So, get along to the factory, at 40 Tozer Street, between 10am to 2pm for some free, historical, family fun!(File)
