Cattle market holds dearer

Sullivan Livestock yarded 1563 cattle at their Gympie Cattle Sale held Monday 18 August 2025, where the market for all descriptions were dearer.

Cattle were drawn from Eidsvold, Mt Perry, Booubyjan, Boompa, Brooweena, Calgoa, Woolooga, Maryborough, Tiaro, Maleny, Kenilworth, Conondale and all local areas.

Brangus x feeder steers 2 – 4 months from Mooloo made $4.16 to return $1,897.

Brangus steers 16 months from Maleny made $4.38 to return $1,714 and $1,593.

Charbray steers 16 months from Calgoa sold for $4.24 ($1,508).

A good quality run of Droughtmaster steers 14 – 16 months from Beaver Rock made $4.60 to return $1,551, $1,508, $1,498 and $1,434.

Droughtmaster steers from Beenham Valley sold for $4.24 to return $1,548. Brangus steers from Gunalda made $4.52 ($1,409).

Charbray steers from Greens Creek made $4.52 ($1,374).

Limousin x weaner steers from Sandy Creek sold for $4.32 ($1,262) and $4.58 ($1,112).

Charbray weaner steers from Kilkivan made $5.08 ($1,141).

Droughtmaster steers from Oakview sold for $4.98 ($1,051). Droughtmaster steers from Yerra sold for $4.76 ($1,231 and $1,081).

Charbray x steers from Boompa made $4.50 ($1,238 and $1,170).

Simmental x heifers from Manumbar made $3.80 to return ($1,333 and $1,280).

Brangus and Charbray x heifers from Kilkivan made $3.68 ($1,226 and $1,177).

Brangus heifers from Gunalda made $3.82 ($1,172). Charbray weaner heifers from Kilkivan made $3.75 ($843 and $828), while their Santa sisters made $3.58 ($811).

Limousin x heifers from Sandy Creek made $3.68 ($875).

Better quality weaner heifers generally sold from $3.10 to $3.75.

Cows and Calves were limited in supply and sold to a top of $1,550.
