Bring out the Nippers!

I am responding to the letter by Jan Waters, Gympie Today, 16 May.

Jan’s diatribe seemed to be a little over the top.

Yes, Mother Nature did pound the beach with wild weather, but the pounding of future surf lifesavers will not make much difference to the beach.

I am sure the coordinators of the surf carnival will work out the low tide, and the swimming leg is not going to hurt the beach, just can’t have those large gazebos. The young children will look forward to seeing the friends they made at the last carnival and new friends made at this carnival.

Australians are a resilient mob overcoming adversity, let’s not deny them, the young future lifesavers, this joy.

Let’s not be a stick in the sand, let the carnival begin…Bring out the nippers!
