Market holds strong

Sullivan Livestock yarded 1787 cattle at the Gympie Sale held Monday 20 January.

Cattle were drawn from Bundaberg, Maryborough, Brooweena, Booubyjan, Tansey, Kilkivan, Maleny, Conondale, Eumundi and all local areas.

Limousin x feeder steers from R & R Zerner made $3.98 ($1954).

Droughtmaster x steers from D & T George, Kia Ora, sold for $3.95 ($1776).

Droughtmaster 4 tooth steers from the Wagner Family, Gunalda, made $3.88 ($1814), while their 2 tooth steers sold for

$3.97 to return $1878, $1746 and $1742.

Droughtmaster x steers from H & K Bambling made $3.96 ($1639 and $1624).

Charbray steers from Donnelly & Turner, Booubyjan, made $4.18 ($1648), while their Brangus steers topped at $4.30 to return $1630, $1548 and $1527.

Brangus steers from R & D Pender, Hidden Valley, Tansey, made $4.26 ($1483).

Brangus steers from A & M Leahy, Wonga, made $4.40 ($1443).

Simmental x steers from Corkin Brothers, Bald Knob, sold for $4.38 ($1503).

Droughtmaster steers from the Wellington Family made $4.40 ($1364).

Charbray steers from Glenmara sold for $4.42 ($1326).

Charbray steers from H & W Herrod, Goomboorian, made $4.60 ($1286).

Droughtmaster steers from Westonvale Livestock sold for $4.48 ($1218).

Quality Charbray weaner steers from E & E Euston, Glastonbury, made $4.80 ($1152).

Generally better quality weaner steers sold from $4.20 to $4.80.

Simmental x heifers from the Heath Family, Widgee, sold for $3.60 ($1593 and $1575).

Brangus heifers from Mooga Hills Grazing, Amamoor, made $3.54 ($1446).

Charbray heifers from D & A O’Donahue, Booubyjan sold for $3.58 ($1235).

Simmental x heifers from the Corkin Family made $3.54 ($1270).

Charbray heifers from Tressavale Grazing, Glastonbury, sold for $3.54 ($992), while their x bred sisters made $3.28 ($969) and $3.30 to

return $924.

Weaner heifers topped at $3.54 with most types selling from $3.10 to $3.38.

Only a handful of cows and calves were yarded and sold to a top of $1525.

Monto Fat and Store Sale Market Report – 15 January

Kellco Rural Agencies Fortnightly first sale back for the 2025 selling season saw a yarding of 670 head. All categories sold to very solid demand with lifts across all classes. Good condition to heavy cows comfortably traded over 300c/kg, heavy feeders made 405c/kg and heavy weaner steers sold to for 488c/kg. Wishing all our clients a happy and prosperous 2025.

Eidsvold Livestock and Property – Cattle Sale Results 15 January

A total of 430 liveweight cattle plus 10 x 10 Cows and Calves were sold at the first sale back on the 15 January 2025. All descriptions sold to a much higher rate throughout, compared to last year’s results.

Heavy cows sold to 314c/kg to top at $1979- to average $1750-, while the 400-500kg Cows sold to top of 335c/kg to average 280c/kg to return $1340- per head.

200-300kg Steers sold very well with the tops returning 518c/kg for good store condition.

Charbray/Santa cross Steers from Cracow, weighing 240kgs to return $1243- per head.

On more than one occasion quality Steers broke the 500c/kg with a good run of Steers selling in the high 400c/kg mark. A significant price rise was consistent throughout.

The same weight Heifer run of 200-300kgs, which saw weaner Heifers selling to 372c/kg to average a very respectful 338c/kg across the board.

300-400 Heifers also sold well to reach a top of 350c/kg to return $1248- per head to average 337c/kg or $1110- per head.

Cows and Calves sold to a top of $1560- per unit. Our next sale will be held on Wednesday 29th January.
