Breeder quality weaner heifers dearer

Sullivan Livestock yarded 1836 cattle at their regular fortnightly Gympie Cattle Sale held Monday 21 October, where the market for breeder quality weaner heifers were dearer while all other descriptions remained firm.

Cattle were drawn from Bundaberg, Childers, Brooweena, Woolooga, Maryborough, Tansey, Conondale, Kenilworth and all local areas.

Heavy feeder steers topped at for $3.66 for a run of Charbray & Simmental x steers from P and S Kennedy, Mooloo returning $1649, $1,495, $1498, $1528 & $1,467.

Charbray steers from Kenilworth made $3.66 ($1,579).

Droughtmaster steers from D and T George, Kia Ora made $3.58 ($1,558).

Riversleigh Pastoral Co. Woolooga sold Charbray steers for $3.64 ($1,408) and Droughtmaster x steers for $3.54 ($1,381).

Limousin x steers from G Bunney Kin Kin made $3.50 ($1,292).

Droughtmaster weaner steers from R and K Bunter, Goomboorian sold for $3.74 ($1,199).

Mike Byrne, Gunalda sold Droughtmaster steers for $3.82 ($1194, $1100 and $940).

Charbray steers from T1Y Pty Ltd made $4.12 ($1,020 and $968).

Charbray steers from the Gill Family, Imbil made $4.10 ($1,007).

Generally weaner steers sold from $3.60 to $4.05.

Feeder heifers topped at $2.82 for Charbray heifers from Neusavale to return $1,239.

Quality Droughtmaster weaner heifers from Mike Byrne made $3.90 to return $1,232.

F1 Charbray weaner heifers from T1Y Pty Ltd sold for $3.38 to return $828 and $746.

Charbray heifers from the Sweet Family, Cootharaba made $3.28 ($747 and $722).

The next run of weaner heifers generally sold from $2.40 to $2.70 pending content and type.

Weaner heifers to processors sold from $1.95 to $2.45.

Lighter lines sold from $1.60 to $2.00.

Cows and calves were limited in supply and sold to a top of $1,350 but most better quality types sold from $1,000 to $1,350.

The next Meatworks and Store Sale is on Monday 4 November.
