Markets up for quality cattle

Sullivan Livestock yarded 1468 cattle at their Gympie Cattle Sale held Monday 26 August, where the market for all descriptions was dearer.

Cattle were drawn from Bucca, Rosedale, Bundaberg, Dallarnil, Booubyjan, Tansey, Woolooga, Nanango, Kilkivan, Kilcoy, Maleny, Kenilworth and all local areas.

Droughtmaster feeder steers from B & L Thompson Mount Urah made $3.82 ($1762 and $1662).

Charbray steers from Harel Herrod, Goomboorian made $3.80 ($1746).

Droughtmaster steers from B & Y Heck made $3.94 ($1466).

Charbray steers from T & K O’Neill sold for $3.86 to return $1385.

Limousin x steers from R Zerner made $3.92 ($1200).

European x steers from Tansey sold for $3.84 ($1176).

Brangus weaner steers from the Farrell Family made $4.32 ($1160 & $1042).

Brangus steers from K Holloway sold for $4.18 to return $1071.

Charbray steers from N Hayward, Sexton made $4.30 to return $1120.

Droughtmaster weaner steers from Nanango made $4.20 to return $1099 & $1017.

Droughtmaster steers from Tony Erickson made $4.36 ($891).

Generally, weaner steers sold from $3.70 to $4.30.

Limousin x heifers from Kilcoy made $3.30 ($1240).

European x heifers from Booubyjan sold for $3.24 ($1074).

The next run of feeder heifers sold from $2.50 to $3.05 pending type and content.

Weaner heifers sold to a top of $2.96 but generally sold from $2.35 to $2.65.

Droughtmaster cows and calves from Yerra sold for $1750 and $1475.

Limousin x cows and calves from Langshaw made $1525.

Aged Charbray cows and calves from Kenilworth sold for $1625.
