It’s OK not to be OK

It’s OK to admit you’re not OK.

Admitting, firstly to yourself and then to a mental health professional, that you don’t have all the answers is the first step towards healing.

As someone who struggles with Generalised Anxiety Disorder daily, I wrestle with panic attacks, procrastination, insomnia, hypertension and more, sometimes from hour to hour.

My low-self-esteem issues stem from this all pervading doubt that deep down inside I deserve bad things to happen, that I haven’t earned happiness.

It’s cost me relationships and friends.

As my shrink says, I don’t have to like it, or want it, I just have to accept it as part of who I am and learn to accept there are days when I will struggle – but that’s OK too.

This new mental health hub for Gympie can only be a boon because knowing help is there if you need it, is a help in itself.
