HomeMarket takes over main street

Market takes over main street

The night markets made their debut in Mary Street and residents explored the main street finding themselves gems of local hand-crafted goods from local small businesses, artisans and creators accompanied by food and music on Friday, 1 March.

Stalls lined the sides of Mary Street with a variety of items on offer to residents, including clothes, candles, toys, food, artisanal goods, slime, decorations and more, all from within the Gympie region.

In order to grab a bite to eat, residents got to sneak away from the noise of the main street through memorial lane which had families playing games set up within, to the food trucks parked up beside memorial park.

Residents could then mosey back towards the excitement or decide to enjoy their pocket curries, cob loaves or barbeque in the park before their return.

Many shops opted to stay open that extra while longer with the groups of families and friends stopping in as they made their way through checking each of the specialty shops and market stalls.

The Friday night entertainment garnered a crowd outside of Dolly and Oats with the young band, MissPlaced, jamming it out as guests enjoyed their meals and drinks.

Young musicians were highlighted with young artists Jaida Champney, Olivia Sindel and Lily-Rose taking up their spots by stalls to ensure that guests could enjoy music no matter where they were.

The night market will be back in Mary Street on Friday, 5 April and will continue to be on the first Friday of each month.
