Got issues with your power, gas or water providers?
The Energy and Water Ombudsman Queensland will be in Gympie on 4 and 5 August and is keen to help.
A spokesman for EWOQ said they are eager to let people know who they are and what they do.
“The EWOQ is a free, fair and independent dispute resolution service that helps residents and small business customers resolve issues with their electricity and gas providers,” the spokesman said.
“We can help with problems such as high bills, disconnections or access to hardship assistance, rebates and concessions.
“We help those in South East Queensland with water issues too.
“We want everyone who needs our help to know we’re here, to understand how we can help and to know how to access our services.
“That’s why our team are on the road in the Wide Bay region visiting community centres and community organisations and sharing information about energy issues,” the spokesman said.
The first event will be an information session for community workers on 4 August at the Gympie Community Place, 18 Excelsior Road, between 2-3.30pm.
“The purpose of the our session is to share information about how the EWOQ can assist community workers to help their clients who may have issues with their energy providers,” the spokesman said.
“Our most common issue is energy bill stress and access to rebates, concessions and payment plans.
“We have Luke Reade from YFS (Youth and Family Services) joining us.
“He is a Community Education Worker who is delivering energy literacy sessions to consumers and community workers.”
The second event will be held at the Goldfields Plaza, throughout the day on 5 August at the Dollars and Sense Expo, organised by Melanie Warren, the financial adviser for Community Action Inc.
Anyone who would like to speak with the Ombudsman but can’t attend either of the events can email them at info@ewoq.com.au ahead of time to make alternative arrangements.
“Contact us and we can organise to drop in while we are in Gympie or meet with you online,” the spokesman said.
