Children and parents of Gympie can enjoy the new Story Walk at Lake Alford.

Gympie Regional Council has put up a new First 5 Forever Story Walk at Lake Alford in Gympie and is encouraging kids to follow the path to discover pages of the Little Queenslanders’ Alphabet Book.

The Story Walk will be open right up until the end of school holidays and is free for anyone who wishes to follow the path.

This project is a collaboration between State Libraries Queensland and the Gympie Regional libraries team, to bring about a summer experience for families in the community.

First 5 Forever is a State Library of Queensland initiative and supports early literacy programs for families.

Storytime sessions are free and run at each Gympie Regional Libraries branch.

Gympie Regional Library also hosts events such as the Summer Reading Club, Be Connected Drop-In Help and Book a librarian.

Other libraries around the region are also holding events such as Elf on a Bookshelf at the Kilkivan Library, 3D Printing fun at the Rainbow Beach Library, Make your own snowglobe at the Goomeri Library and the Tin Can Bay Art Group at the Tin Can Bay Library.
