RACQ have sent mobile centre after 600+ hail claims received

RACQ teams will be on the ground in the Gympie region from midday today as the Mobile Member Centre arrives to provide additional support to members affected by the recent hailstorm.

RACQ Chief Executive Insurance Trent Sayers said as at 9am Wednesday, RACQ had received more than 635 insurance claims including 234 for homes and 401 for vehicles in the Gympie and Maryborough regions.

“Our Mobile Member Centre will be at the Gympie Showgrounds from lunchtime tomorrow to support members in the area to lodge claims and answer any questions,” Mr Sayers said yesterday.

“To expedite motor vehicle claims we have secured locations in Maryborough and Gympie to commence assessments and our motor claims team is prioritising emergency assessments and repairs for broken glass so we can help keep our members mobile.

“Claims for building damage are being allocated to our builder panel and we are prioritising attendance for vulnerable members, however all claims are being actioned as rapidly as possible.

Mr Sayers said he encouraged members to lodge claims now to ensure they receive the help they need.

“For a quick and easy process, members also have the option to lodge their claim online and upload photos of damage via the online portal, alternatively they can call us on 13 72 02,” he said.

“With Tropical Cyclone Jasper forming in the Coral Sea and forecast to impact Queensland next week, we urge the community to stay safe in coming days and contact us if they need assistance.

“If you do need to travel, please check your route before you leave and obey road closure signs. If you are experiencing an emergency, please call 000 immediately.”

RACQ’s Mobile Member Centre will be at the Gympie Showgrounds from midday Thursday 7 December until Sunday 10 December, 9.30am to 4.30pm every day (except Thursday – opening midday).
