Prices hold steady at Gympie

Sullivan Livestock yarded 1723 cattle at their regular fortnightly Gympie Cattle Sale held Monday 10 July where the market held firm for all descriptions.

Cattle were drawn from Eidsvold, Booubyjan, Childers, Maryborough, Brooweena, Woolooga, Tansey, Kilkivan, Maleny, Conondale, Kenilworth and all local areas.

Heavy Droughtmaster feeder steers from W & G Dillon made $3.25 or $1540.

Charolais x steers from D Tomkinson, Pomona sold for $3.34 ($1457) and $3.24 ($1162).

P & S Johnston sold Limousin x steers for $3.32 ($1449).

Quality Simmental x steers from R & K Corkin, Bald Knob made $3.32 ($1373).

Droughtmaster steers from G Thompson, Wolvi made $3.30 ($1359).

Droughtmaster steers from the Brown Family, Beaver Rock sold for $3.28 ($1175 and $1067).

Droughtmaster x weaner steers from J W Hains, Running Creek made $3.48 to return $943, $862 and $781.

J & H McMillan “Nargoon” Cinnabar sold Simmental x steers for $3.44 ($955).

Charbray steers from Kelvin Schroeder made $3.56 to return $742.

Santa x steers from Greg McArthur, Cinnabar sold for $3.32 ($779).

Charolais x steers from the Bath Family made $3.30 ($720).

Fitzgerald & Co, Oakview sold Droughtmaster weaner steers for $3.36 ($717).

Generally weaner steers sold from $3.00 to $3.50 with the next run from $2.40 to $2.95.

Droughtmaster heifers from the Brown Family made $2.58 ($814 and $781).

Quality Charolais x heifers from the Corkin Brothers, Bald Knob topped at $2.64 ($712).

Barry Hiron sold weaner heifers for $2.42 or $667.

Droughtmaster heifers from the Ross Brothers, Brooweena made $2.38 ($697).

Brangus and Simmental x heifers from J & H McMillan made $2.46 and $2.48 to return $650, $623 and $579.

Better quality weaner heifers sold from $2.10 to $2.50 with the next run selling from $1.80 to $2.08 to processors.

Plainer lesser types sold from $1.40 to $1.75.

Cows and calves were limited in supply and sold to a top of $1050.
