Solar and wind are not the only ways

I would like to address John Hermann’s letter (12/5/23) and add a bit more to the conversation.

I understand his concerns on energy production.

Solar and wind are not the only ways to produce electricity.

Thorium is a mineral similar to uranium.

It can be used much the same way.

It is more plentiful, more stable, and the waste only takes 100 years to break down as opposed to uranium waste.

China has three thorium power plants.

Geothermal where liquid is pumped underground, heated, and returned to the surface to be used as a heat source or converted to electricity is another way. We could use the tides which move whether the sun shines or wind blows.

There is a new invention using magnetics in the pipeline.

Scientists are now exploring extracting energy from the space around us.

I am not advocating for any one of these but just saying that there are other ways to meet our energy needs beside wind and solar or coal.

I agree with John that we should look at the science regarding climate change.

But which scientists do you believe?

The ones beholden to governments and corporations for funding, or the ones not obliged to anyone?

As I understand it (and I am not a scientist), the climate changing has to do with the the Earth’s magnetic field, what the inner and outer core of the Earth is doing, the Sun’s influence with solar flares and the cosmic forces affecting the Earth.

At the moment there is built up energy/pressure under the Earth’s crust.

Mother Earth is venting it via volcanos, earth quakes and vents under the ocean.

This warms the oceans.

Warm water does not hold as much CO2 as cold water and therefore there is increasing levels of CO2 in the atmosphere.

Humans are not causing the climate to change but it is coming from inside the Earth.

Humans are however polluting the earth, polluting our water, polluting our air and polluting the food we eat.

It is making us sick and needs to be cleaned up.

I will leave this discussion with a quote from the scientist Gregg Braden- “The solution to all of our problems already exists on our planet”.
