For a group who prides themselves for giving away money, the Masonic Club don’t seem to be doing much yet this year. There are, however, some projects in the process, at the moment, that can’t be mention until they have been finalised. We are still doing our “sausage sizzle” events at Bunnings from time to time. If you see us there come along and say hello. It is always good to have some recognition.
As stated before, the clubs are called lodges and the buildings in which we meet are sometimes called “temples”. This has given rise to the assumption that Masonry is a religion. We do have a Chaplin as an office bearer but he is not a qualified priest as is found in a church. He is chosen by the members to read extracts from the bible and say the occasional prayer. One of our mottos is to “make good men better” which the club do but we are not a religion.
Where only one lodge meets in a building , the building is usually named after the lodge. For example, only one lodge meets in the building at Imbil and the lodge is called “Telford Lodge” so the building is also called “Telford Lodge”. In Gympie- , however, the building where all the local lodges meet is called the Masonic Centre and not named after any of the several lodges that meet there. The building where all the lodges meet in Gympie is that blue and white building opposite the police station.
