As a matter of fact…

Dear Arthur

Concerning the (opinion piece) in Gympie Today 24 March, 2023 – Environment? Who cares?

For historical accuracy, Bob Brown was not a founder of the world’s first Green party, in fact, he only became involved in 1975, three years after the formation of the United Tasmania Group (UTG) and he was not involved in the Lake Pedder campaign.

– Geoff Holloway

Secretary United Tasmania Group

EDS NOTE:

Thanks Geoff.

I bow to your knowledge.

I always say that if people find your mistakes it means they have read the story.

I lived in Tassie in 1974 and I thought I knew what I was talking about.

The Lake Pedder debate was big at the time, as it was for years.

So thanks for the correction.

I had an idea the UTG formed the Greens, but thought I had seen Bob Brown’s picture in an article about it.

Thanks for your contribution.

– Arthur Gorrie
