Big jumps for St Pats

St Patrick’s College and Primary school proudly took out 3rd place at the Wide Bay Regional Equestrian Championships on the weekend, competing against 35 other schools. Six of their riders combined to compete in Combined Training, Dressage, Show Jumping and Show Horse categories to secure the overall 3rd Place.

Emily Davis, Jameson Bazzan and Arianah Bazzan, all primary students at St Patricks, made up a third of the team. The secondary students included Ella Vizer, Finnigan Bazzan and Layla Demircan.

“We are really proud of what our team achieved this weekend,“ Emily Davis said. “It was an amazing experience to be part of such a great team and we can’t wait for next year!“

Emily herself won overall highest points Primary Rider and competed in every discipline also riding 2 horses in Show Jumping as well.

The competition was fierce but with strong determination and hard work from each member of the team, St Patricks was able to take out 3rd place overall.

“I am so pleased with how our team performed,“ Finnigan said.

“It was definitely a challenge this year we decided to step out of our comfort zones and compete in a few disciplines as I normally only compete in Show Jumping, we decided to take on the challenge of combined training as well and the hard work definitely paid off.”

St Patrick’s Principal, Mr Mark Newton, congratulated the students on their success.

“We are so proud of what these six students have achieved this past weekend,“ he said.

“They worked hard throughout the entire competition, and I couldn’t be more pleased with their results.“

This is just one example of St Patrick’s commitment to excellence in all areas of education including sports and extracurricular activities. The school will continue to strive for success in future competitions while providing an enriching learning environment for its students. St Patrick’s College is looking to host its own Equestrian event later in the year to help students from the region achieve state qualifiers.
