Unique shots this month

Eggo By Sienna Brady.

Did you know that the Gympie Camera Club has been in existence since the 1950’s and is still going strong? There are always things all about photography happening at the club.

The March competition was all about High Key photography and this is a fun skill that can be achieved in your camera. Members entered an interesting collection of images of a variety of subjects. The invited PSQ (Photographic Society of Qld) accredited judge was Gorgie Catlow. It was a first time judging at Gympie Camera Club for Gorgie and members enjoyed her helpful encouraging critique. Awards were given and well deserved by members for their hard work.

Members enjoyed a friendship day at the Wappa Dam Nambour, with members of the Sunshine Coast and Caboolture Clubs. This day was hosted by the Gympie Camera Club and it certainly was a fun day and well attended. The theme for the day was all about lighting with the challenge being to capture images using different lightening in a set order. All images were shared with others on the computer at the end of the challenge. Lots of laughs and chats over a good cuppa and yummy food made for a great day spent together.

The Special Subject for the month of April is “Humour” which is not the easiest of subjects as we all have different views of “funny”. I’m sure the April Competition night will be a night of laughs as the humor flows…! Open Section for the month of April will be Monochrome.

April’s outing is going to be a day at a club with animals large and small. There will be puppies to photograph and to give a little cuddle, along with donkeys to entice with a carrot and some little animals in between. It will be a fun day for all members.

If you want to be a part of the fun you can find us at 39 Saleyard Road, behind the woodworkers club. Our meetings are the first Tuesday and third Monday of the month. Meetings start 7.00pm SHARP. We would love to see you there.

We are there to share the love of photography and make friendships. Our club is a group of people learning and discovering new things in photography, happy to share knowledge with you.

“There is a creative fraction of a second when you are taking a picture. Your eye must see a composition or an expression that life itself offers you, and you must know with intuition when to click the camera. That is the moment the photographer is creative. Oop! The Moment! Once you miss it, it is gone forever” – Henri Cartier-Bresson.
