Hard day at the ’office’

Wednesday, 27 July, was a very hard day at the office, just ask one of the 14 Gympie Golf Club lady golfers who played a Single Stroke and competed for the July Monthly Medal.

Daily Winner and Monthly Medal Winner was Maureen Carroll with a score of 78 nett.

Sandra Yarrow was Runner Up, second time in a week, two shots behind with 80 nett.

Del Groundwater (81), Clair Thorburn, Stella Macklin (83), Jean Peters and Carol Ward (85) won balls in the Rundown.

Pin Shots: Open: Par 3 – 16th – Annette Slater, Division 1: 2nd Shot Par 3 – 3rd – Stella Macklin; Division 2: 2nd Shot Par 3 – 9th Helen Tossavainen.

Maureen won the Seniors comp with Del Groundwater won the putting – 33 putts – closely contested by Maureen Carroll, Stella Macklin and Dorothy Bramley with 34 putts.

Saturday (30 July), in what was the biggest field for a long time, most of our lady golfers teamed up with members to compete in the Mixed Foursomes Championships, an Honour Board event over 27 holes.

It was a great day and well done to the winners.

Gross Winners were Del Groundwater and Brad Morgan (125) with runners-up Caitlyn Wheatley and John Towler (134).

The Nett Winners were Yoey and Tim Coogan (111.25) with Debbie Deighton and Andrew Towning (114) the runners-up.

Tomorrow, (Saturday, 5 August), members and ladies will play a Single Stroke and compete for the August Saturday Monthly Medal and next Wednesday, 10 August, the ladies are scheduled to play a Single Stableford which counts in the District ‘Club’ event.
